I came to UUCSS several years ago and have stayed for the music, the minister, the congregation and the commitment to social justice. This past year has been really hard, with unwanted changes in ministerial leadership. Some of the people who are really angry and hurt have left and have nothing good to say about the church. Some have stayed to try to make things better. Some, like me, aren't angry or hurt but think we need to renew our covenant with each other and refocus on our faith and our work together. Comments will likely represent a full range of who we are, so I hope you will listen thoughtfully to the voices shared and then come to UUCSS to make your own decision.

This has been my church home since 1998. I was welcomed with open arms by the congregation even though we were going through a hard time then. We've had two ministers resign and the DRE resign as well, but I am confident we will get through this period. We are very fortunate to have a congregation of diverse beliefs with great childhood and youth RE and music programs.
UUs in this area are fortunate to have so many churches from which to choose. Come visit us -- maybe we will be right for you.Added February 21, 2017 by Laura Ellis - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Haters gonna hate. This wonderful community has sustained me, an agnostic with minimal religious background, through 13 years of change. At first I came for support during the most stressful time of my life; then for childcare and time for contemplation; then for deep sermons and new friendships. Now it's about the community as a whole and singing (not well) in a group (don't worry, I'm not in the choir!). If you are looking for doe but of warmth and connection among (mostly) Resistance, without dogma, this place is growing and changing but will help you feel your roots and find your wings, as it has done for me.
It is sad that race has become a dividing factor among people who are on the same team. We're all learning and with faith in our shared humanity, our denomination will both evolve and flourish. If you need us, we need you! Come by.Added February 12, 2017 by Robin Moore - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
A beautiful, welcoming church for everyone, with an amazing RE program for kids and youth program for teens that they actually WANT to go to on Sunday. And awesome music.

It has always been a great place to work. I love the people, and the musicians I've had the pleasure of working with.
